My trip to Guatemala

Hearing how hurricane Mitch had devastated Central America I took one week off from my lectures in America and offered CARE Guatemala my help. They had heard about my work for CARE in other countries and were eager to see me down there. However, the hurricane was so severe that we couldn't land and made an emergency landing in Panama until the worst of the storm was over. So most of my pictures are from the gloomy mood and weather in the days after. Especially I was interested in seeing the Indians in the Northern mountains where I had hitchhiked around 20 years earlier before the height of the bloodbath on the Mayas. Unlike then I now found them incredibly open toward me.
